\"castles-in-the-skyopener\"<\/a>Phew\u2026 what a crazy month! Last time I had <\/span>a second to spare<\/a><\/span> we were in the middle of the <\/span>Amstel Surfilm Festibal<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

It\u2019s old news to most of you by now, but in case you wonder\u00a0Sea of Darkness<\/a><\/strong> took home the 6.000\u20ac<\/strong> for the best feature film of the year while Birthright<\/a><\/strong> took home the 1500\u20ac<\/strong> for best short film of the year. You\u2019ve got all the winners for the different prizes here<\/strong><\/a>. Looking back over the Festibal the things that definitely stand out are:<\/p>\n

The <\/span>180\u00ba South<\/strong><\/span> European premiere (see<\/span> here<\/a><\/strong><\/span>).<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Skeleton Sea Project <\/a><\/strong><\/span>exhibition at the Aquarium (where it will remain until September) that was a big hit among the non-surfing media.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Castles in the Sky<\/strong><\/span> (euro premiere) and <\/span>Idiosyncrasies<\/strong><\/span> (world premiere), both sold out and with both <\/span>Taylor Steele<\/strong><\/span> and <\/span>Patrick Trefz<\/strong><\/span> presenting them.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The visit of one very bald and tanned Kelli Styler<\/strong> in a white limo and his board conveniently glued to his side so he could greet his fans with both hands.<\/span><\/p>\n

The two crazy nights of the <\/span>Amstel Surfilm FestiBaila<\/strong> that pretty much emptied the line-up first thing the next day.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The beautiful boards on display -and ready to be tried out by anyone- on the beach during the weekend: a\u00a0Skip Frye fish<\/strong><\/a>, a <\/strong>Josh Hall fish<\/strong><\/a> (with Josh in person explaining the intricacies of the board), an original\u00a0Terry Fitzgerald shaped Hot Buttered Drifta<\/strong><\/a>, etc\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n
